Sandsend Storm
The photograph above represents being in the right place at the right time. I had travelled to the Yorkshire Coast early on the Saturday morning and spent most of the day walking around Scarborough taking a mixture of landscape and street photographs. The day was hot and the sky a cast of blue, and uninspiring for landscape. Still, it was a break from work and I was enjoying the exercise and exploring the coastline. The next morning, I awoke to the sound of heavy rain and peered out of the hotel window to a dark skies and rain. It was so dark and the sky had simply changed from blue to battleship grey. With a long journey ahead of me, I decided to venture into Sandsend to a local cafe that provided a nice bacon sandwich and strong coffee. The drive took about an hour and the rain was constant. However, as I turned down the long road that descended into Sandsend, I noticed a change in the weather…the grey sky was breaking and streams of sunlight penetrated through it. Quickly parking the car, I jumped out and took a series of shots before the storm (and rain) returned.
