Valencia Photo Shoot
Valencia provides a contrast of photography for both the street and fine art photographer. The Art and Science complex, which is located about 4km from the centre, provides a futuristic explosion of modern building architecture. The huge structures, resembling biological patterns and structures, are simply breathtaking in both size and style. Meanwhile, the Old Town, located in the very centre of Valencia, represents the narrow streets and multiple floor apartments. The rustic and often street art painted buildings provide an insight into the past. Both old and new provide beautiful photography locations.
After arriving into Valencia early morning, I dropped my cabin bag at the hotel and walked the five minutes journey into the heart of the Art and Science complex. Feeling very tired due to not sleeping for over twenty-four hours, the wow factor of the complex soon replaced my fatigue with school boy excitement. This place was simply amazing and the light that first day provided a high contrast that helped define the modern architecture. Within three hours, I had taken hundreds of photographs and I already knew that some of them had already made the trip payoff. Within the first three hours of photographing, I had already captured images beyond my expectations and, with my fatigue now returning, I returned to my home and rested for a couple of hours before a final session at sunset.
The second day had been intended to explore the complex but, with the huge success of the first day and the forecast of rain on the third and final day, I decided to walk into the Old Town to explore its rustic streets. As with the complex, the huge opportunity for great images was simply overwhelming and, as with the first day, over the four hour period I had taken hundreds of photos. Returning back to the hotel, I repeated an early evening siesta before venturing out for sunset again in the complex.
The final day was more of a travel photography day rather than a specific street or architecture session. This allowed me to relax and enjoy the final day, aware that I had captured some fantastic images over the last couple of days. I was still surprised that, even without purposely focusing upon a specific area, I still managed to capture some of the best photographs of the week. After a final evening photography shoot, my time in Valencia was finishing and I prepared for my 9am departure to the airport, and my flight back to the UK.
Valencia is a fantastic place and went way beyond my expectations again and again. I cannot wait to return there again in the future but, now with all the photographs captured that I could wish for, as a romantic travel time with my partner.
